I often don’t get to share my clients intimate portrait sessions, but during a recent Fall portrait session with Lauren, we were talking about a variety of things. I had mentioned that I was working on something new for my Intimate Portrait Sessions and it seemed to peak her interest. Once I had shown her some of the images from the test shoot I did a few weeks ago she was excited to set a date to do the same for her.
Now the concept around these sessions are to use the available light where possible and instead of a studio or a stuffy hotel room we shoot in the clients home. There are a couple of clear advantages to this, the first being unlimited access to your own wardrobe – meaning you never forget to bring something which happens quite a bit when doing the regular sessions. The second advantage is the comfort of home – most clients are a little nervous and excited about their sessions, so adding packing all of their stuff, hauling it to the location and trying to be there on time can add some stress to the day. Where as this way, I can provide professional hair and makeup at their home prior to their shoot, then once done they can venture to their own wardrobe to get ready for their session and once the session is over they can sit back and relax as there is no need to pack up and head home as they are already there.
Now this type of session can also be extended to an afternoon with friends as well (An Intimate Portrait Party) where a group of ladies can all meet up at one of the friends houses and, while enjoying some light snacks and libations, they can all take a turn getting their hair and makeup done and having their own little session too.
So without further ado here is a small peek of Lauren’s session.
